Idyllwild Arts Academy's Visual Arts Department Faculty Show.

The annual Faculty Show convenes the technical skill and creative breadth of the Academy's Visual Arts Department, and sets the course for the year ahead.

This year the Visual Art faculty selected the exhibition title Scattered State. Although not exactly a unifying theme, Scattered State is a title encapsulating our experiences of going our separate ways for the summer and returning to embark on a new academic year together.

This exhibition showcases a broad range of the diverse mediums that we connect with and teach, and explores themes and ideas that we grapple with as individuals. The process of art-making can be deeply internal and cathartic: Rachel embraced art-making as a daily ritual, Cristie, Shaunna, and Chris captured fleeting moments, while Negin, Cihan, Jasmine and I traveled inward.
